37 cm wooden clock with 12 points, hand-crafted and hand-painted, combining several traditional arts in a single piece.
On the one hand, the Persian technique of "minakari" or enamel painting on copper has been used in the central medallion, "khatam kari" (marquetry) on the edges giving it an exquisite finish and on the entire band around the needles the enameled "miniature painting". We see an alternation of geometric designs on a dark blue background using the refined art of illumination or "tazhib" and cartoonish figures on horseback carrying sticks that allude to chovgan, the ancient national sport of the aristocracy that emerged in Persia as a training for cavalry units and is today considered the predecessor of the modern polo game. Its importance in the cultural and artistic tradition is such that in 2017 it was included on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
