21cm hand painted ceramic plate with an elegant calligraphic "nastaliq" design in cream letters on a red background with gold floral decoration. The Persian text is a poem by Rumi which coincides with Gazal No. 777 of his work The Divan of Shams and reads as follows: "Nothing makes me happier than that you are my life and my world." Shams-i Tabrizi was a Persian Sufi dervish whom she met in Konya (present-day Turkey) and who would become her spiritual teacher.
This work was written after his disappearance and is dedicated to him; in it he laments his loss and showers him with praise in a profound and unique philosophical style typical of Rumi and which consists of more than 40,000 verses and 3,000 ghazals, a form of poetic expression that shows the pain of separation at the same time as the beauty of the love that causes it.
This style of calligraphy is used especially in poetic literature or with a decorative aspect in advertisements, titles and works of art written or painted by hand. Mir Ali Tabrizi, originally from Tabriz, was the creator of this beautiful form of artistic expression in the 14th century.
